    On the first day of your 7 Days Morocco Desert Tour  From Tangier, we’ll pick you up from your accommodation, the airport, or the port in Tangier often referred to as “the bride of the north.” This coastal city lies at the meeting point of the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean near Cape Spartel. We’ll begin by exploring the highlights of Tangier, including the famous Hercules Cave and Cape Spartel. After some free time for lunch, we’ll head inland toward Chefchaouen, passing through Tetouan and the scenic Rif Mountains. Along the way, we’ll stop at various viewpoints to take in the stunning landscapes. You’ll spend the night at a hotel in Chefchaouen. (B)

    After breakfast, take some time to explore the charming blue-painted streets of Chefchaouen at your own pace. Later, we’ll head to the ancient Roman city of Volubilis, a remarkably well-preserved archaeological site recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. Here, you’ll find stunning mosaics, towering pillars, and impressive archways that reflect its rich history. After touring the ruins, we’ll drive about 30 km to Meknes, one of Morocco’s imperial cities and the former capital of Sultan Moulay Ismail. In Meknes, we’ll visit key landmarks such as Bab Al-Mansour, the Sahrij Souani Basin, the Royal Stables, the granary, and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. Our day ends with a drive to Fes, where you’ll spend the night in a traditional Riad. (B)

    After breakfast, we’ll pick you up from your accommodation in Fes to begin a full day of exploring the city. Known as one of Morocco’s imperial cities, Fes is also regarded as the spiritual and cultural heart of the country. We’ll start by visiting the gates of the Royal Palace, followed by a tour of the well-preserved medieval Medina, which is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

    Entering through the iconic Blue Gate (Bab Boujloud), you’ll explore the old city with a local guide. Highlights include the Bou Inania Madrasa, the historic Najjarine Fountain, the traditional leather tanneries, and the Al Quaraouiyine Mosque and University – considered the oldest existing university in the world. Afterward, we’ll leave the Medina to visit the Jewish Quarter, known as the Mellah, and then head to an old fortress offering panoramic views over the Medina and the city of Fes. We’ll end the day by returning to your Riad for the night. (B)

You’ll have time to walk through the forest and even feed the monkeys if you wish. Afterward, we continue to Midelt, where you’ll have free time for lunch.

    We then drive through the scenic Tizi-n-Tilghmt mountain pass and follow the picturesque Ziz Valley, with stops along the way to admire the panoramic views. By afternoon, we arrive in the Merzouga Sahara Desert. There, you’ll switch to camels for a trek across the golden dunes. We’ll pause atop a high dune to take in the stunning sunset before continuing to your desert camp. The camp beautifully blends traditional nomadic tents with the comforts of modern luxury.     After breakfast, we dedicate the day to exploring the fascinating region of Merzouga. This area is full of remarkable sights towering sand dunes, a wild seasonal lake, ancient mines, fossil-rich zones, and lush oases, perfect for outdoor adventures. We begin with an off-road drive to visit a historic kohl (eyeliner) mine. Then, we head to a nomadic family living in traditional woven tents, where you’ll learn about their way of life while enjoying a cup of Berber tea.

    Next, we visit the village of Khamlia, known for its vibrant Gnaoua music and dance, performed by locals whose roots trace back to sub-Saharan countries such as Mali, Sudan, and Niger. Afterward, enjoy some free time for lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we take a walk through a scenic palm grove before heading to Merzouga’s wild lake, also known as the Lake of Flamingos.     Waking up early is essential to catch the stunning desert sunrise. After enjoying some free time for breakfast, we begin our journey by leaving the Sahara and heading to the town of Rissani—once the capital of the Tafilalet region. Rissani remains an important trading hub, especially vibrant on market days: Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday. After exploring the bustling souk, we continue on to Erfoud to visit a workshop that specializes in fossilized marble.

    Next, we drive through the palm groves of Touroug and Tinjdad, making our way to the spectacular Todra Gorges. Carved by the Todra River, this dramatic red-rock canyon is a favorite spot for rock climbers. You’ll have time to walk through the gorge and admire the awe-inspiring scenery. After a lunch break at a local restaurant, we head toward the Dades Valley via Boumalne Dades. Along the way, we stop to view the famous “monkey fingers” rock formations and take in panoramic views from a high vantage point overlooking the valley. Dinner and overnight stay at a hotel. (D.B)

    Next, we travel to the iconic Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a fortified village recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site. This stunning location has been featured in numerous films like Gladiator, Alexander, and The Mummy, as well as the popular series Game of Thrones. After exploring Ait Ben Haddou, we visit the lesser-known but equally fascinating Telouet Kasbah.

    Our final stretch takes us over the Tizi-n-Tichka mountain pass, winding through the majestic High Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we’ll pause for lunch and enjoy scenic photo stops. By late afternoon, we arrive in Marrakesh, where we drop you off at your accommodation in a charming Riad—marking the end of your one-week Morocco itinerary. (B)
